Dredge

Several people have asked about the dredge (with all of its pipeline) that has been in the harbor lately. A few of our readers have seen it on a web-cam; others have seen it while visiting the island. Capt. Rob Temple has written a great article about the dredge for the Ocracoke Current. You can read his article, and see photos of the dredge, here: http://www.ocracokecurrent.com/42512.

Our latest Ocracoke Newsletter is the story of midwifery on Ocracoke. You can read it here: http://www.villagecraftsmen.com/news082112.htm

  3. Perhaps one of our readers knows about Ocracoke webcams. I never watch webcams, and do not know what is available.

NC Mainlander is thrilled about reading the story regarding the dredge. Thanks, Philip and Captain Rob!

Re: Web-cams....I've enjoyed countless minutes viewing the Ocracoke Harbor Inn's Silver Lake, however, the Teach's Hole web-cam is, at least for the moment, not working. Also, Captain's Landing had an excellent web-cam which showed a different angle. I especially enjoyed this web-cam when the ferry would arrive. Unfortunately, I don't believe it is operating. However, the Ocracoke Airport web-cam seems to be working. Lately, I have not been able to see the lighthouse in the distance w/ one of the airport web-cams, as I could last year.

So, I guess this is "good news, bad news". Maybe another blogger knows of more web-cams to share.
