Clear Water

Life is slowing down some this week. I believe all of the islanders are breathing a long sigh of relief. But then again, Labor Day is just ahead. Anyway, it is quieter right now.....and the weather is super. A bit cooler, but sunny and simply delightful. I went for a walk on the beach. Saw a few folks far down the beach, but only passed one couple. The water was gentle and clear. And warm! It was just about perfect, I'd say.

This month's newsletter is a story of Captain Joe Burrus, last Ocracoke lighthouse keeper before the beacon was electrified and automated. You can read it here.
